On Saturday, October 22nd, 2005 the Club’s New
Member Activities Committee and the Officers and Board hosted a welcoming dinner
for our “new” members at the home of Tom and Stephanie Loo in Malibu.
The “new” members were recent Rotarians who joined us this past year
(since last year’s dinner at the Lehne’s house) or those who were unable to attend
last year’s event.
Approximately fifty attendees, including spouses and guests, were treated to a barbeque dinner put on by our Rotarian chefs. District Governor Ingo Werk and his wife, Mary also joined the festivities and provided the VIP support from the District. The most honored guest, however, was the new son, Alex of Oded and Ruth Wolf who many of us got to see for the first time.
The concept of a dinner which was created by Club’s members (instead of a catered affair) seemed to produce a pretty good meal, as well a bit of high comedy caused by the seriousness of our chefs. Next year, other Rotarians will be given the opportunity to replicate this fine evening when we welcome additional new members.

Holly Gustlin (On a bus trip around USA as a teenager, she wouldn’t be “frisky” with anyone so they gave her a “future nun award”) and Len Lanzi (was president of the inter-fraternity council in college) |

A zany "Get to Know You" game asks you to match quirky experiences or characteristics with attendees at the party. It had people asking each other some interesting questions. Like, "Did you set a junior high school record for doing the most chin-ups?" – Anna Dravillas By the way that is new member Len Lanzi’s guest Russell Nelson (served 8 years in the Navy and never set foot on a ship) on the left. |

That is next year's president Jim Dyer's wife, Sharen (Plays in the tar pits) on the left with new member Holly Gustlin. |

Youngest New Members Spotted! Ryan Loo (left) and Alex Wolf were definitely our youngest new members. Ryan brought his mom Stephanie as his guest and Alex brought his mom Ruth. |
