Dr. Richard E. Corlin President of the American Medical Association was our guest for lunch on the first day of Summer of 2002.

Two of our Physician members Jay Gross (center), and Eric Schmitter, talk to their "boss" Dr. Corlin, who is president of the A.M.A. Dr. Colin explained to us why our country needs tort reform as it relates to health care. He gave us examples of States where it costs physician specialists over $250,000 a year for malpractice insurance.  In one of his last official acts President Hal Quigley inducts into our club one of our newest members  Brian West who is Captain of the Santa Monica Salvation Army.

Ronald L. Iden Director of the Los Angeles Division of the FBI was our speaker for lunch on 6-14-02. 

Ron explained to new member Sara Frank that the fight on terrorism is the FBI's number one concern. He also told Sara that the U.S. is dealing with a very smart enemy. He explained that the 9/11 terrorists trained overseas for more than 5 years before coming to this country and  virtually left  no trail of their activities before the attack.   Shown starting left to right are Dick Rice, Bruce Blenkensdorfer, and Bill Hunt. These members and others were honored for the their many "Paul Harris Fellowships".

Candidate for California Governor Bill Simon was our guest for lunch on 6/7/02

Bill was introduced by his favorite educator Dee Menzies. Bill explained to us that two of his main concerns are education and public safety. He would also like to see California capital gain taxes reduced. His idea is that reduced taxes create more jobs, more revenue, and eventually more tax revenues. We also presented over $9,000 in scholarship and youth awards. Shown to the right is $1,000 award sponsor Robert Segal and his wife Jeanne (center) presenting the award to a deserving student. (By the way Jeanne, it is great to see you Back!)
