To The Rotary Club of Santa Monica 2004 – 2005

Dear Rotarians and Friends;

With this brief note, I wish to say to all associated with our club thank you for allowing me to serve this year as president. It has been a great privilege.

To all our members individually and collectively, I wish every Rotary club would have the support you have given our club and myself this year.

Your energy, wisdom, enthusiasm and generosity have been over-whelming. I will not mention names as this comment is intended for each of you personally.

Closing now, I send you my strongest Rotary love and affection, and Elza and I look forward to continuing our service and friendship with you for many years to come.

Congratulations Lionel, and to his lovely wife Elza

There were over 200 members and guests in attendance. This years event was held at the Riviera Country Club. We had a first class dinner consisting of our choice of Chicken Tetrazzini, Grilled Salmon, and Vegetarians Delight!

Lionel gave out many awards to members who deserved special recognition. These members were:

	President's Award - Kris Andresen.
	President's Award - Mike O'Hara.
	President's Award - Jon Kemp.
	President's Award (Esther Johnson Spirit Award) - Carol Jackson.
	President's Award (R. James Cayton Award) - John Lehne.
	The Rotary International Four Avenue of Service Award - Hal Quigley

The Herbert A. Spurgin Award - In recognition as the outstanding new club member - Jillian Alexander & Tish Tisherman.

The Austin-Jennings Award - In recognition of his outstanding and continuing service to our club for 20 or more years - Greg Hargrave.

The Joseph C. Gilbert Award - In recognition as the outstanding Rotarian for the year - Rosemary Regalbuto.

Kris Andresen was caught smiling with Past District Governor, John Colville.

PP (Past President) Bill Hunt has his arms around Vivian Spurgin and Roy Almeida. Vivian was the spouse of PP Herb Spurgin.

Looking very Presidential was President-Elect Jim Dyer and his lovely spouse Sharen. Jim did a fantastic job serving as this years chairman.

Sharon Johnson and PP Hal Quigley were reminiscing about her mother, Esther Johnson.

Nancy & Marvin Freedman and Ruth & Marvin Levin are long time friends and business associates, but tonight they were enjoying the demotion party.

Our new First Lady Marilyn Leoni and President Paul Leoni (starting July 1st) were radiating big smiles with Steve Litvack. Just look at the presidential regalia on Paul.

Webmaster extraordinaire Larry Maher with his beautiful wife Brenda were taking in the wonderful evening with their good friend and our Past Executive Secretary Barbara Hopper.

Unequalled as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening is Paul Gaulke and the lady of his life Jennifer Polito Gaulke. Jennifer makes sure Paul keeps both feet on the ground.

Taking in the evening are Joey & Joe Perlmutter. Joey was a former member and Rotamonica editor for our club. Her husband Joe is a member of the Rotary Club of Beverly Hills.

Friends and supporters of Lionel Ruhman are Gale and John Miron along with Kai-Li Quigley.

Wendy and Scot Clifford were partaking in the evening festivities. Scot is the District Governor-Elect.

Ida & Nat Trives, Susan Dawson and Tom Loo were having a grand time. Ida & Nat Trives will be celebrating their 50th anniverary early next month. I do believe Nat rocked the cradle.

Starting left: Ray Briem, Bob Trimborn, and George Collins. George did a great job when he led several of our members in the "Roasting" of Prez Lionel.

Myles Prichard and Monika White. Myles, I see you are drinking my favorite beer!

Erik Jorgensborg and his lovely wife Nancy (Left) and Karen Baker. It is always great to talk to members at these events. Karen talked to me a little bit about her new business. Her Educational Centers are now places where many of the Professional Organizations give out their qualification exams. One example is the California CPA exam. Way to go Karen!
