Farmers Market Victims Fund

The Rotary Club of Santa Monica’s Board of Directors voted to allocate $2,000.00 to the Santa Monica Farmers Market Victims Assistance Fund (SMFMVAF). The $2,000.00 is a challenge grant to which the club members will be asked to match or exceed with individual contributions during a special collection at our meeting on Friday, August 15, 2003. The SMFMVAF has received over $100,000.00 in pledges and cash since its’ formation on July 17, 2003. The SMFMVAF Board of Directors is well on its’ way to successfully reach out to and assist needy victims and survivors of the July 16, 2003 devastating tragedy at the downtown farmers market. You may make your checks payable to the SMFMVAF or pay by credit card at the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce website http://www.smchamber.com In the spirit of Rotary International President Jonathan Majiyagbe’s theme “Lend a Hand” and District Governor John Colville’s theme “The Family of Rotary” let the Rotary Club of Santa Monica show that it is a part of the community of families in Santa Monica who are willing to lend a hand to those among us who are in need.
