| For the third
year in a row, on October
10, 2004, the Rotary Club of Santa Monica and the Wilshire Rotary Club of
Los Angeles co-sponsored a reception for all Ambassadorial Scholars
(including Incoming, Outgoing and Alumni Scholars). Invited guests included the District Governor
Pat Cashin and Distict Governor Elect Ingo Werk, the International
Directors, Ambassadorial Chairmen & Committee Members, Mentors & Scholars,
Representatives of the Co-Sponsoring Clubs and other guests.

| This year the reception was held at Lawry's Restaurant. it
was a total success with approximately forty in attendance. Representing The
Rotary Club of Santa Monica is PP Hal Quigley with our Ambassadorial Scholar
Masahiko Tanaka (on the far right).

• Support approximately 1,100 students serving abroad annually • Introduce scholars to the cultures of over 70 different countries • Send scholars from almost 70 different countries • Have created a worldwide network of more than 36,000 scholar alumni • Have empowered students to improve international under-standing for over half a century
AMBASSADORS OF GOODWILL
The Ambassadorial Scholarships program supports the mission of The Rotary Foundation to further international understanding and world peace by
• Increasing awareness of and respect for cultural differences by sending ambassadors of goodwill to study in another country
• Instilling in scholars the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self through active participation in Rotary service projects
• Encouraging scholars to dedicate their personal and professional lives to improving the quality of life for the people of their home communities and countries
• Developing leaders who can address the humanitarian needs of the world community
• Impacting all areas of the world through a balanced geographical distribution of scholars
• Fostering a lifelong association between Rotary and its scholars
