June 28, 2002 - Friday Evening - Riviera Country Club - Dethroning Party - Goodbye Hal Quigley, Hello Bill Crookston.

This Photograph shows President Hal Quigley  asking Bill Crookston (shown in disguise) to stay an additional 3 months as President.  Bill tells Hal that he must go on time. Be there at the at the Riviera Country Club on Friday to see if Hal goes. Bill tells us that it is going to be a fun year, I think the picture tells all!

June 21, 2002: Richard E. Corlin, MD, President  of the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr Corlin is  a gastroenterologist in private practice in Santa Monica and was elected President of the AMA in June of 2000.  Click here for Dr Corlin's bio.

 

June 14, 2002  Ronald L. Iden, Assistant Director in Charge Of FBI's Los Angeles Field  Office.  Mr. Iden has chosen "September 11th and Its Aftermath" to be his topic. MAY 19, 2002 - Let's TAKE A HIKE AND WATCH A POLO MATCH!

5th Annual Ronald Reagan Polo Tournament

WHERE: WILL ROGERS STATE PARK 

We will meet at the field at 10:30 a.m. and will take a 1-1/2 mile trip to Inspiration Point and back. 

The polo match begins at 10:00 a.m. and will end at approximately 1:00 p.m. (for those not wanting to hike).  After the hike, you can enjoy your lunch while watching the game. 

Drinks will be provided.   However, be sure to bring along your lunch and something to sit on (blanket or folding chair). 

While the match is free of charge, there will be a $3.00 parking fee.

May 18, 2002 District Assembly

May 18, 2002- Immunization Clinic to be held at St John's Hospital, volunteers needed, Call Vice Chair Joe Gonzales for details.

 

May 17- 2002 - Carol Jackson, Committee chair for our "Organ Donor Awareness Program" will give us a short update on all the great things her committee are doing. She will also  introduce her friend who has received a heart transplant from Dr. Laks. (By the way her committee is the proud winner of the District's "Club of Distinction Award".

 May 17, 2002 - Dr.Hillel Laks -Will be talking to us regarding the  Artificial Heart.  Dr. Laks is the Principal Investigator in UCLA’s Total Artificial Heart Program and will soon implant an artificial heart in a patient, otherwise without hope.  Recently, Mayor Riordan honored Dr. Laks with the “Treasure of Los Angeles Award” for his dedication and commitment to patients. May 7, 2002  5:00 to 6:30 PM - Club Assembly for 2002-2003 Year. All officers directors, committee Chairs and Vice Chairs, please be in attendance. Location - Trinity Baptist Church of Santa Monica 1015 California Ave. (10th and California Ave.)

 

Caution, For Those Attending - Bill Hunt Has Full Fining Authority!

May 3, 2002 - Craft Talks - Myles Pritchard and Kathy Dodson. Since all of our officers will be at the District Conference our own past president and "birthday boy" Bill Hunt will be in charge. President Hal Quigley has informed us that Bill will have " Full Fining authority", so be on your best behavior!

 

May 2, 3, 4, 5, 2002 - District Conference:  US Grant Hotel, San Diego.  Reserve the date !

As an added bonus, VP Hugh Travis has arranged a reception and harbor cruise for Saturday, May 4, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m. A map to the San Diego Yacht Club will be  attached here shortly. We will board the Kathy Mae II at 2:00 p.m. and George M. Pardee will be with us.

Refreshments will be served and we will cruise the San Diego harbor before returning dockside. Dress is casual and a warm jacket is advisable. We look forward to hosting you for this enjoyable afternoon activity. 

Need I give you any more reasons why the Rotary Club of Santa Monica is the best place to be to build friendships and develop strong personal relationships?
