It is January 30, 2003. It is a balmy Thursday evening at the Upper Bel Air Bay Club and members of the Lions Club of Santa Monica are honoring Rotarian Richard E. Lawrence at their 22nd Annual Community Recognition Award Dinner. Adding to the evening, Rotarian & YMCA President George Collins honors Dick for his contributions to the Family YMCA of Santa Monica. Also, Rotarian and President of the Santa Monica College Associates, Monika White, honors Dick for his public service to the College. In addition, a proclamation from the City of Santa Monica was presented to Dick Lawrence. Past Rotarians receiving this prestigious award from the Lions Club include Nat Trives, Ernie White, Bob Gabriel, Jim Butts, Msgr. Lloyd Torgerson, Allan Young and Dee Menzies.
