A Learning Link to the 4-Way Test

It has been translated into more than 100 languages.  It has been carved into granite monuments and inscribed at the base of flagpoles.  It has been displayed on billboards, flashed on movie screens and advertised in newspapers, on radio and televisions around the world.  It has been written into business agreements and even printed on wrapping paper.  And it has been the theme of countless school speeches, essay and poster contests.  What is it, you wonder?

It is the 4-Way Test of Rotary International.  It does not provide answers.  It only asks four questions.

Of the things you think, say or do each day, try asking:

bullet

Is it the truth?

bullet

Is it fair to all concerned?

bullet

Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

bullet

will it be beneficial to all concerned?

How can you use the 4-Way Test in your life?

First, try to memorize it.  It is only 24 words! Then check your thoughts, words and deeds against it each day.  It could help you become a better friend, a better student and a better citizen.  Use it to help you examine how you do things- from how you behave when you play sports or a game with your friends, to how you act with your parents, sisters, brothers, teachers, coaches, classmates, and friends.
