2nd Annual International Food Festival
Thanks to our gracious hosts Tom and Stephanie Loo and our youngest Rotarian Ryan
On Sunday afternoon April 18th 2004, at the Malibu home of Tom and
Stephanie Loo, the Club held its second International Food Festival.
The Festival featured home-prepared dishes made by members from the
approximately 20 different ethnic groups to which the Club’s Rotarians or
their spouses claim ancestry. The
afternoon event drew over 175 members and guests, including District Governor John
Colville, Past District Governor Rick Mendoza, District
Governor-elect, Pat Cashin, Executive Aide 2003-2004 Carmela
Raack and Director Vocational Service 2003-2004 (future District
Governor in 2005-2006), Ingo Werk and their respective spouses. The event also
included two Ambassadorial Scholars and the Rotary Group Study Exchange Team
from Brazil.
The
purpose of the family-oriented Food Festival was to celebrate the diversity
within the Santa Monica Club and to raise funds to provide assistance to the
local and international charitable programs.
In
addition
to the great food and live ethnic music from several bands, the Santa
Monica Club held a silent auction which grossed over $6,500.
The event also included members from the Rotaract Club at Santa Monica
City College who joined in the festivities.

| Tom Loo is tasting the special SC Pig who, in turn, is feasting on the Bruin Bear. Nearly everyone is happy. | |
| Jillian Alexander is shown standing next to super attorney George Collins. George is shown modeling the latest sun shade fashion as recommended by his dermatologist. Jillian tells our reporters that she is now relaxing after just finishing an intense two month project for one of her clients. | |
| Dr. Dave Rogers tells us that he is having a great time soaking in the outdoors and Pacific Ocean breeze. Dave has been cooped up for months inside working on a major home construction project. | |
| Karen Baker this year's chairperson for "Administrative Assistant Day" is shown promoting the event. ( Karen this is a five star picture of you!) | |

Our Governor John Colville is always there for us! |

Will the Real Susan please raise her hand Susan Annett (left) and Susan Dawson could almost pass for twin sisters. Susan Annett is our world famous Santa Monica librarian and Susan Dawson is an expert consultant on food. Both Susans rate this event as a culinary delight! |
