THE FOUNDATION IS LAID ON THE 83rd YEAR!!
This has been a great month for showcasing the great speakers we get at the Rotary Club of Santa Monica. We’ve had speakers teach us how to stay healthy well into our golden years. I was at the head table with BOB DELMONTEQUE, and let me tell you this guy is in great shape. He really walks the walk and it shows.
There was MICHAEL LEVIN, Executive Director of Building Bridges to Understanding, was our guest speaker. He came by to show us the mentoring program that his organization does around the world, using a camera, a computer and the internet.
There was NANCI LINKE-ELLIS, Executive Director of TRIPOD Captioned Films whose organization provides captioning of movies for the deaf and hard of hearing.
It was a very international day, this past week when both craft talkers were from Germany. PETRA HAFFTER and KLAUS MENNEKE did their craft after an introduction by that emcee of eminence, SPYROS DELLAPORTAS.

Well, players actually. He’s done it again, and is forming a tennis team for the Rotary Club of Santa Monica. With all the new members it shouldn’t be that hard to field a team. If you have a desire to run around a field in tighty whiteys with Harris please contact at (310) 822-9067.
CASTING CALL FOR ALL WANNA BE ACTORS!
Rotary International is doing a commercial here in the Santa Monica area. Would you like to be an extra? They are looking for 6-8 people in their 30’s and 40’s. Commitment is about 3 to 4 hours, August 28th and 29th. Please contact June Doy if you are interested at rotaryclubofsantamonica@verizon.net. I don’t think you have to spend too much time on the couch for this one.

Our newest member is John Dravillas. John is a Certified Manual Therapist. Next meeting say hello to John and help make him feel an important part of our club! (You might want to ask him what kind of therapy, manuals need.)

You can learn some of the most profound leadership principles by looking in the lives of American heroes. Pete is the author of Modern Day Heroes: In Defense of America.

If you’ve been around lately, you’ve noticed that the Conductor has been a little light on the fines, well to remedy that, the Past Presidents gave him a shove to increase his fining.
If you haven’t been around, you’ll notice in your next statement that the Conductor has levied fines on you in one way or another. It started out as a little fine for the women of the club. Then there was the hue and cry for equality, so the men got fined.
So unless you’re neither, you’re paying!
WEDDING BELL BILLS
The Conductor, in his efforts at being fair, was sure to fine himself for his 5OTH Wedding anniversary to his lovely wife Elza. They renewed their vows with the help the Rev. Patricia Farris, and many members of their original wedding party, including the best man. Guess he was a good choice!
